About Me
Hi, my name is Mourat and I'm in love with programming.
I was born a member of a rural family in the village Sounio, in the city of Xanthi in Greece. I had never seen a computer for the first 8 years of my life, but I have always had a vivid imagination. Defining new types of games to play with my friends in the yard was my strong suit. That very summer, after a long period, a guy from Germany returned to my village. It didn’t take long for us to become friends and he invited me back to his home. This invitation played a key role in my life. That is when I saw a computer for the first time in my life and thought "This is the machine that I can create my dream worlds on, I can create whatever I can imagine!". Right then and there, I saw the infinite possibilities to create things with a computer.
For the next 6 years, I kept buying low-budget game consoles to play with, using money from my allowance daily. By tinkering with them when they would eventually break down and reading many technology magazines, I started to understand how computers work and what I needed to create my imaginary universes. When I turned 14, my family bought me my personal computer as a gift for my birthday and, in the same year, I started buying books about game programming. My first book was "Game Programming with C#" by a Turkish author. In a year, I could program small console games and programs.
During my studies as an Electrical and Computer Engineer at the Technical University of Crete, I honed several hardware and software skills, including the theory of computer science, algorithms, how to compare algorithmic complexity, data structures, and many more. This knowledge helped me to make my projects more integrated and reliable. Since my sophomore year at the University, I have been working as a Freelancer, creating my own games. Unfortunately, due to certain reasons about family health problems and financial straits, my graduation was put on hold.
At the moment, I want to broaden my experience by collaborating with professional programmers and working as a software developer. So, I'm actively searching for a position in this industry and I also continue to develop my games in the meantime.
